The use of multimedia in lectures is generally recommended for attaining higher student engagement. In the webinar, use of different multimedia examples in lectures; such as films, documentaries, video clips and stand-alone video cases will be considered from a pedagogical point of view. Subsequently few examples of documentaries and clips will be shared with participants, showing alternative ways of using them as part of synchronous online teaching. In addition two stand-alone video case collections –Brands Whisper’g® and MNC Whispering– will be introduced for using them as part of interactive synchronous online teaching in IB. By attending this webinar, participants will gain a further understanding on interactive synchronous online teaching methods, with special emphasis on:

  • Using different multimedia types for synchronous online IB teaching,
  • Alternative ways of relating stand-alone video cases to IB textbook information,
  • The importance of role playing for higher student interaction during synchronous online teaching.

Dr. Nukhet Vardar, Director

Dr. Vardar is the Director of El Izi Communications Consultancy UK, a London based edtech company developing innovative teaching tools and adapting them to international markets. She has worked in Marketing and Advertising since 1985. Vardar holds MSc and PhD in International Marketing from Univ of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology. She taught undergrad, MBA and PhD students on topics of Marketing, Advertising and Promotions, Integrated Marketing Communications at multiple universities.

Vardar also worked at Turkish subsidiaries of international companies serving clients like Apple, BP, Citibank, Colgate Palmolive, Ford, Unilever. She was the founding Managing Director of Initiative Media Istanbul, turning the company to Turkey’s largest media agency in 1997 & 1998.

Her research interests focus on case writing and new pedagogy development for business studies. Her cases are published by Sage Online, USA; Henry Stewart Talks, Emerald. She is the author of 12 books.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Filip De Beule

Filip De Beule teaches IB at KU Leuven. He is senior member of Leuven Center for Global Governance Studies, and board member of KU Leuven Centre for Russian Studies and Flanders Business School. He was academic secretary of the Western European Chapter of AIB and board member of EIBA for ten years. He is coordinator of an Erasmus+ project, funded by the EU, developing video cases for teaching IB.

His research focuses on internationalization, international & social entrepreneurship, innovation, and developing economies, particularly focused on Chinese and Indian multinationals. He was research fellow of China Europe Management Center and Erasmus Mundus scholar at Tata Institute of Social Sciences. He has been published in the Journal of World Business, Journal of International Management, European Management Journal, Journal of Economic and Social Geography, Transnational Corporations Journal, International Business Review, Management International Review, among others.
