Use of Digital Technologies and Multimedia in Higher Education

This webinar has a wider scope than IB, aiming to give a broad view on the use of digital technologies in education. More specifically, it will cover the use of multimedia in higher education. We know that the use of multimedia in teaching has become more significant and popular in teaching, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing in both its perils and prejudices with it. Our panelists will share some of the most recent publications done on the use of digital technologies in education. Furthermore, they will be addressing more specifically on the use of multimedia and its impact as a pedagogical tool.

About the Speakers

Dr. Nukhet Vardar, Director
El Izi Communications Consultancy UK Limited
Dr. Vardar is the Director of El Izi Communications Consultancy UK, a London based edtech company developing innovative teaching tools and adapting them to international markets. She has worked in Marketing and Advertising since 1985. Vardar holds MSc and PhD in International Marketing from Univ of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology. She taught undergrad, MBA and PhD students on topics of Marketing, Advertising and Promotions, Integrated Marketing Communications at multiple universities.

Vardar also worked at Turkish subsidiaries of international companies serving clients like Apple, BP, Citibank, Colgate Palmolive, Ford, Unilever. She was the founding Managing Director of Initiative Media Istanbul, turning the company to Turkey’s largest media agency in 1997 & 1998.

Her research interests focus on case writing and new pedagogy development for business studies. Her cases are published by Sage Online, USA; Henry Stewart Talks, Emerald. She is the author of 12 books.

Dr. Kristen Weatherby
Weatherby Education Studies, London, UK
Dr. Kristen Weatherby is a senior education professional whose 20+ year career has included leadership roles in some of the largest global public and private sector players in technology and education, including the OECD, UCL’s Institute of Education and Microsoft. She runs a consultancy that advises governments, multi-nationals and industry in the areas of education technology and teacher policy. Her research examines technology use in schools and in teacher professional development, as well as broader issues impacting the status of the teaching profession globally.

Tracy Poelzer
Educational Specialist
University of Groningen, The Netherlands
Tracy Poelzer is an educational specialist and trainer for ESI (Educational Support and Innovation) at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. She has a diverse educational background, including experience in both public and indigenous education systems in her native home of Canada, and from primary school to academic university level. She has worked extensively with new and experienced educational instructors and leaders to provide training and coaching, promote educational innovation, and to model and inspire best practice pedagogy and powerful integration of technology into teaching and learning activities. She has presented keynote addresses, workshops, and presentations to educators across North America, throughout Europe, and in the Philippines.
