How to Integrate Written or Video Cases into IB Syllabus Easily

Generally speaking, lecturers find it hard to integrate a written case or a video case into their existing syllabus. They may find themselves spending considerable amount of time, spotting a relevant case and trying to figure out how to use it in the most pedagogical way. Apart from finding a relevant case, lecturers can also find relating the case to their syllabus demanding. This webinar aims to address these issues, tackling the problem from lecturers’ perspective, offering some ready-to-use tips from panelists. In the webinar, we will get a chance to listen to an early career lecturer’s views and to a senior scholar to learn how they choose cases, when they mostly use cases and how they overcome the hurdles of integrating cases into their syllabi.

About the Speakers

Dr. Nukhet Vardar, Director
El Izi Communications Consultancy UK Limited
Dr. Vardar is the Director of El Izi Communications Consultancy UK, a London based edtech company developing innovative teaching tools and adapting them to international markets. She has worked in Marketing and Advertising since 1985. Vardar holds MSc and PhD in International Marketing from Univ of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology. She taught undergrad, MBA and PhD students on topics of Marketing, Advertising and Promotions, Integrated Marketing Communications at multiple universities.

Vardar also worked at Turkish subsidiaries of international companies serving clients like Apple, BP, Citibank, Colgate Palmolive, Ford, Unilever. She was the founding Managing Director of Initiative Media Istanbul, turning the company to Turkey’s largest media agency in 1997 & 1998.

Her research interests focus on case writing and new pedagogy development for business studies. Her cases are published by Sage Online, USA; Henry Stewart Talks, Emerald. She is the author of 12 books.

Dr. Matt Raskovic
Associate Professor of International Business and Strategy
Auckland University of Technology (AUT), Department of International Business, Strategy and Entrepreneurship (IBSE).
A habilitated Associate Professor of IB at University of Ljubljana, Slovenia (triple crown). Guest professor at Zhejiang School of Management (PIEGL Master’s Programme). I draw on my diverse international experience and extensive travel to spark passionate curiosity in the classroom among students, with the aim of making them more curious about the world, passionate about social issues and self-aware. My research incorporates an economic sociology perspective on international business issues.

Dr. Magdalena Langosch
Lecturer in IB, University of Greenwich, UK
A PhD in International Business from Loughborough University in London. Previously she studied International Business at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. During her Undergraduate Studies, Lena spent one Semester at EWHA Womens University in Seoul, South Korea, where she focused on Intercultural Communication and the Korean Language. In 2016, she graduated Cum Laude at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University in the Netherlands.
Besides her responsibilities at Greenwich, Lena is also lecturing International Business at Imperial College Business School for the MBA programme in collaboration with Prof. George Yip.
